Illumina Clinical Services Laboratory currently offers the Individual Genome Sequencing (IGS) service. The laboratory is staffed with certified Clinical Laboratory Scientists and uses the latest Illumina technology. In 2009, Illumina Clinical Services Laboratory was the first to generate a personal genome sequence in a clinical laboratory setting.

What is CLIA?

CLIA stands for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. It is an important laboratory certification given by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to companies who perform diagnostic tests on human samples. In total, CLIA covers approximately 200,000 laboratory entities. The objective of the CLIA program is to ensure quality laboratory testing through regulations and inspections. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program that helps laboratories consistently achieve the highest level of service, with the goal of improving patient safety.
